The Apache tears stitch gives a beautiful structure to any crocheted piece. It basically is a variation on Mosaic crochet, but because of the treble crochet stitches the color changes are more layered. There are many different kinds of the apache tears stitch. You can change color every row, or every 2, 3 or more rows. You can make it with just 2 colours or with as many as you like. And you can vary in the amount of sc in between the tr stitches. De Apache tears steek geeft een mooie structuur aan je haakwerk. Het is een variatie op mozaïek haken, maar door het gebruik van een dubbel stokje zijn de kleurovergangen net wat anders. Er zijn veel verschillende manieren om deze steek te gebruiken. Je kunt elke toer van kleur wisselen, of elke 2, 3 of meer toeren. Je kunt 2 kleuren gebruiken of zoveel als je wilt. En je kunt varieren in de hoeveelheid vasten tussen de dubbele stokjes. De apache tears steek zoals hier uitgelegd is hoe ik deze gebruikte in de Rome tas (klik hier om naar de informatie over dat patroon te gaan), maar ik weet zeker dat er nog wel meer tassen gaan komen met deze leuke steek!
So here are some rules to making this apache tears stitch:
- Change colour every three rounds or rows
- Do not turn your work! Every row is started on the right side of your work
- Single crochets are made in the back loop of the stitch of the previous round (see photo below)
- Treble crochets are made in the front loop of the stitch from three rounds before. So the treble crochet in round 4 is made in the front loop of a stitch from round 1, that of round 5 in the stitches of round 2, that of round 6 in the stitches of round 3 etc (see photo below)
- The stitch repeat is 6, so make sure the amount of stitches you start with is a multiple of 6
Hier zijn een aantal basisregels om de apache tears steek te haken:
- Elke drie toeren wissel je van kleur
- Keer je werk niet! Elke toer
- Als je een vaste haakt, haak je deze in de achterste lus van de laatste toer(zie foto hieronder)
- Als je een dubbel stokje haakt, haak je deze in de voorste lus van de steken van 3 toeren eerder.
Dus in de dubbel stokjes uit toer 4 haak je in de voorste lus van een vaste van toer 1, die van
toer 5 in de steken van toer 2, van toer 6 in de steken van toer 3 etc (zie foto hieronder) - Je herhaalt steeds dezelfde 6 steken. Dus om te beginnen moet je zorgen dat je een aantal steken hebt dat deelbaar is door 6
The pattern

2. (colour A) Make an sc in the back loop of every stitch
3. (colour A) Repeat round 2
4. (colour B) Sc in the back loop of the first 3 stitches, tr in the front loop of the sc of three rounds before (so round 1), * 5 sc, 1 tr, repeat from * till the end, end with 2 sc
5. (colour B) Sc in the back loop of the first 4 stitches, tr in the front loop of the sc of three rounds before (so round 2), * 5 sc, 1 tr, repeat from * till the end, end with 1 sc
6. (colour B) Sc in the back loop of the first 5 stitches, tr in the front loop of the sc of three rounds before (round 3), *5 sc, 1 tr, repeat from * till the end
7. (colour C) Tr in the first stitch of 3 rounds before (round 4) * 5 sc, 1 tr, repeat from * till the end, end with 5 sc
I think you are getting the repeat by now. Keep repeating these steps till your project has the size you want.
Het patroon

6. (kleur B) Maak een vaste in de achterste lus in de eerste 5 steken, maak een dubbel stokje in de voorste lus van de vaste van 3 toeren eerder (dus van toer 3), * maak 5 vasten, 1 dubbel stokje, herhaal vanaf * tot einde
7. (kleur C) Maak een dubbel stokje in de eerste steek van 3 toeren eerder (dus van toer 4) * maak 5 vasten, 1 dubbel stokje, herhaal vanaf * tot einde, eindig met 5 vasten
Inmiddels zul je het ritme wel te pakken hebben. Blijf deze stappen herhalen tot je project de gewenste grootte heeft.
