As you might know, I live in the city of Utrecht. The Oudegracht (Old Canal) in Utrecht is one of the most iconic places of the city. The canal meanders through the city centre. At street level there are shops and at the waterfront lots of restaurants. In summer I love to buy an icecream with my kids and sit at the waterfront watching all the little boats pass by.
The pattern for this bag is inspired by the Oudegracht and especially the bright flowers on the bridges in the summer. This bag is crocheted using the granny stitch, but with a little twist to have a surprising result.
Al jaren woon ik in Utrecht. Als je ooit in de stad geweest bent dan weet je de Oudegracht vast wel te vinden. Deze gracht kronkelt door het centrum heen, met winkels op straatniveau en heel veel restaurantjes langs de beroemde werven. In de zomer vind ik het heerlijk om een ijsje te kopen met mijn kinderen en met ze naar alle bootjes te kijken die langsvaren.
De Oudegracht, en dan in het bijzonder de felgekleurde bloemen op de bruggen in de zomer, inspireerden het patroon voor deze tas. Hij is gehaakt met een granny steek, maar door het gebruik van verschillende kleuren krijg je een verrassende tas.
